Where in the world...

are those LeapFrog guys?

INDIA (Part II)

After their first two weeks of hell in India,
the second two have provided a 'real
cultural experience' for our Leapfroggers.
'Palaces, rip-offs and special balls' is
the theme of this month's blog as the boys
keep cool in true Indian style.

Spotlight on:

Stratford Upon Avon

Located on the banks of the River Avon in beautiful and easily accessible rural Warwickshire (UK), Stratford-upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, steeped in culture and history.  It is the perfect place for a short break or vacation and for theatre goers there is always something showing at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) with a full set of programmes throughout the year.

The Cotswolds   Knott Garden

While visiting Stratford-upon-Avon you can also enjoy the nearby surrounding shire counties of Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.  Other nearby sites include Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds,

Worcester and the Malverns and Warwick Castle and Henley in Aarden.

Ice Hotel

The Ice Hotel in Lapland is forever changing.  Fiirst created in 1990, every November a team of sculptors and architects lovingly re-crafts the large igloo hotel, complete with sparkling ballrooms, cinema, chapel and 'Absolut Ice Bar'.  Every single bedroom is unique with all the furniture and fittings made from ice.

Flying High -

Tip of the Month

Give Boredom the Boot!  These days flights allow for anything but boredom with the attendants floating by offering drinks, snacks and meals regularly, the selection of magazines in your chair pocket, in-flight duty free shopping, the occasional announcement from the pilot and, of course, hours of television, movies and games to choose from.  Then there's also the complimentary in-flight travel pack that some airlines hand out like lucky dip bags to keep you mucking about for a while and getting comfortable enough to close your eyes for a nap can kill half an hour in itself!  But if you still find that you can't shake the boredom of long-haul flying, it helps to get out that book you've been meaning to read or pack some writing paper and stationery to do some brainstorming for work (it's not always possible to use a laptop).  Taking the occasional stroll up and down the aisle not only invigorates but is also healthy for your circulation.  Visiting the attendants at the back of the plane is a good idea if you feel like some meaningless chit chat and most airlines offer a selection of treats and drinks in the kitchen for the extra-peckish and you can spend a while rifling through these.  You can even be super-organised and do your morning regime of toothbrushing and washing up while the lights are down to avoid the morning

QUIZ HIGH FLYERS

If you're bored and travelling through Singapore's Changi airport, don't fret, for you can take part in a
Civil Aviation Authority daily quiz show.  This 25-minute diversion, hosted by professional actors, runs 12 times a day and has so far attracted 4,000 game players and crowds of up to 100 curious onlookers.  It's time well spent as the winners get shopping vouchers that they can then spend in the airport before boarding their plane.
