What would you say if we told you that snowboarding is actually more dangerous than skiing? It is. Statistics from the 2009 winter season show snowboarding injury rates of 3-5 injuries per 1,000 snowboarder days. Skiers are injured at a rate of 2-3 per 1,000 days.

Just as a point of reference, a snowboarder day is measured as a single day spent on the slopes by a single snowboarder. So if 500 visitors use a resort in a given day that would be considered 500 snowboarder days. At a potential rate of five injuries per 1,000 days, snowboarding must be considered a dangerous sport.

If you plan to make snowboarding part of your next holiday, it goes without saying you need snowboarding insurance from Downunder. Without insurance, you're risking severe financial consequences in the event of an accident and/or injury. Do not take that risk.
