Let’s face it; winter can be a really depressing time for many of us – all that cold weather and spending most of our time in darkness. It is logical that those of us who can afford it should try to get away from it all and go to somewhere a bit warmer. The good news is that while it is winter here in the UK, there are plenty of places where it is still hot. Here are just a few ideas for where you might want to escape the UK winter.
Phuket, Thailand
Thailand offers year round sun, and even the coolest days here are better than even the UK summer. Phuket is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand, and this island has everything that a visitor could ever want. The beaches here are absolutely superb, and there is also plenty to do in the local towns and countryside. Phuket has also become a very modern place with international standard department stores, and every type of restaurant. Those of us of us who are coming from the UK are also likely to find that Thailand is amazingly cheap.
Kuta, Bali
Kuta is the most famous beach resort, and it is hardly surprising as this is one of the wildest and fun places to be on the island of Bali. This has traditionally been a favourite spot for Australians because it is in reasonable close proximity comparatively to Australia. There are also many people from the UK who like to visit here when it is winter back home. There is plenty to see and do in Kuta but most people will be happy to just chill out on the beach most of the time. It is well worth visiting the local water park, as it is one of the largest of its kind in the world.
Goa, India
Goa is a wonderful choice if people want to enjoy some winter sun. It is possible to enjoy a really good holiday here without spending much money – the only real expense is paying for the plane tickets. Another nice thing about Goa is that there are so many options as for what to do while there. Some people will get bored laying on the beach all the time once the novelty has worn off, but there will be plenty of other things for them to enjoy.
Sydney, Australia
Sydney is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and it is also an excellent option for getting away from the winter blues in the UK. This is a long way to travel for a holiday, so it is recommended that people come for at least a month – that way they can do a bit of travelling around the rest of the country. Sydney offers plenty of great things for visitors including top bars, restaurants, and many other exciting things to do.
So there you have just a few options for where you can escape the UK winter. Keep in mind though, that while most holidays will just be non-stop fun there is the risk of things going wrong. It is therefore always a good idea to have appropriate travel insurance.
