Campervan Hotspots – Part 1

Published: 07/10/2015

Owners of campervans are the kinds of people who love to be on the go. Some are not so much into tent camping; others like campervans because they can go places that might be restricted to motorhomes and caravans. At any rate, a campervan holiday is an excellent way to spend some time away from it all. It is a great way to reconnect with family and the great outdoors.

In both this post and the next, we will be providing a list of the top campervan hotspots with easy access from within the UK. Most of them are domestic, but we will touch on a few on mainland Europe. We hope you find our list helpful as you plan your summer getaway.

Little Meadow Campsite – North Devon

The first option on our list is a hotspot because of what it is NOT. It is not a massive holiday park with hundreds of caravan spots and all the amenities of a modern city. Instead, it is a lovely location offering 50 individual pitches on hills overlooking Combe Martin Bay and the Bristol Channel. Little Meadow typifies what owning a campervan is all about. It is quiet, peaceful and with just enough amenities to make your stay comfortable.

Hillend Camping and Caravan Park – Wales

The Gower Peninsula in Wales is the UK's first designated area of natural beauty and home to the Hillend Camping and Caravan Park. At Hillend, you will enjoy spectacular views of Gower's beaches along with several small towns and historic castle ruins. This is one campground you do not want to miss. The region is one of the most beautiful places in all of the UK. Hillend offers 250 caravan spots and 14 acres of level meadow perfect for your campervan.

Three Cliffs Bay – Wales

As long as we are talking about the Gower Peninsula, another great option is Three Cliffs Bay. This is a real holiday park that combines tent camping, campervans, motorhomes, caravans, and rental cottages converted from old farmhouses. The best part is that it is out-of-the-way just enough to discourage casual day visitors. Three Cliffs Bay gives you direct access to the Gower coastline and some stunning views of the water.

Grange Farm Brighstone Bay – Isle of Wight

Just outside the village of Brighstone, on the Isle of Wight, is the Grange Farm holiday park. The park is large enough to accommodate different levels of accommodation and numerous activities, yet small enough to allow you to thoroughly enjoy yourself without feeling as if you are packed in. The views are excellent, the beach is about 100 yards away, and there is plenty at the park and in the village to keep the kids busy.

This is where we will bring an end to this post. Be sure to check the next post in the series for part two. There are plenty of other great campervan hotspots for you to choose from. It is going to be a great summer for campervan holidays.
