Most Exotic Tourist Destinations for 2013

Published: 12/14/2012

Up until the 1960s, most people in the UK would have been happy to go to places like Blackpool for their holidays. These days the average holidaymaker is a bit more adventurous. People are increasingly looking for holidays that are ever more exotic. This is getting harder to do as world travel becomes so easy and popular. Here are just a few ideas for what would be considered exotic tourist destinations for 2013.

Alaska

Some people equate the word “exotic” with a warm climate, but this is not what this word means – it just refers to a place or thing that is different from what we are used to. Alaska will definitely fit the bill for an exotic place. This is a special place with its own unique landscape, flora, and fauna. It is the largest state in the US, and it is full of natural marvels including plenty of gigantic mountains. Alaska is famous for its snow, but this is also the home of different species of bear and wolves.

Bhutan

The people of Bhutan are believed to be among the happiest in the world. While most governments around the world obsess about their GDP (gross domestic product), the government of Bhutan is more concerned with GHP (gross happiness product). This Buddhist nation is a mystical place that only attracts a modest number of tourists each year. It is a very mountainous area, and there is plenty to see and do here.

Greenland

Greenland can be an expensive place to visit, but it is well worth the money for those who can afford it. One of the real attractions of this place is that visitors can get to experience what it is like to be a real explorer. Most of this country does not even have roads, so getting off the beaten track is easy. One of the most popular ways of getting from A to B in Greenland is by helicopter. This is a truly beautiful part of the world, and a visit here is sure to mean an unforgettable holiday.

New Zealand

New Zealand is a long way from the UK, but this is one of the most fascinating places to visit on the planet. The fact that everyone speaks English also makes it an easy place to visit. All of the best things about this country are outdoors. This is the ideal place for those who enjoy adventure and long walks in stunning scenery. New Zealand is also famous for its volcanoes. Fans of the Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit will feel like they have arrived in Middle Earth because most of the filming for these movies was done here.

Laos

Laos is one of the most interesting destinations in South East Asia. It is less popular than nearby Thailand or Vietnam. One of the nicest things about Laos is that the people are so friendly – it is also a very cheap place to visit. Those individuals who are looking for an adventure type holiday will find plenty of things to enjoy in Laos.
