Travel Destination Spain

Published: 10/10/2013

Why do so many millions of people choose to holiday in Spain? Could it be because the weather is reliably great, no matter when you decide to go? Or that there are plenty of low cost options when it comes to accommodation and places to stay? All in all, it’s a friendly country with everything you need for a relaxing holiday - sun, sea, sand and plenty of cultural sights to see and adventurous things to do.

It is also a rather large country and, if you’ve never been there before, how do you know where the best resorts are? Chances are, you can’t really go wrong. You need to decide between a city break or a beach holiday and, once you’ve done that it’s pretty much plain sailing!

Do a bit of research beforehand, particularly if you are booking off season as you can find some very good deals on resorts that would be pretty pricey during peak season. You can pretty much always find reasonably priced flights to Barcelona and other major Spanish cities all year round, so where do you choose?

How about one of the Balearic Islands? Take your pick from Majorca, Ibiza or Menorca, all located in the middle of the gorgeous Mediterranean sea. They are phenomenally popular with holidaymakers of all ages and types - from party goers to families with children, and the great weather, sights, food, drink, music and sunsets guarantee a great time. Check out the natural caves at Coves de Campanet and Alcudia Old Town in Majorca, if you’re after a bit more of a quiet time.

We mentioned Barcelona above, and we have to say that this city is a must-see experience. There is so much to see and do and gives you the option between chilling out at the beach or taking advantage of the amazing shopping, fantastic architecture and abundance of culture all around you.

For perhaps rather less culture, but definitely more beach, you could try the old favourite of British holidaymakers - the Costa Blanca. It is stretch of coastline that stretches for 200km in Alicante and is absolutely stunning. The beaches are beautiful, the crystal clear sea is beautiful, the food is beautiful and the people are beautiful! It’s also chock full of family friendly hotels and resorts and is probably one of the best options for a group or family holiday.
