Travellers planning a stay in a new hostel in Queenstown, New Zealand, next year should buy
backpacker travel insurance first.
According to Otago Daily Times, a property development group has been granted approval to begin construction on a new, five-star backpacker hostel in Queenstown, New Zealand. The hostel will offer 350 beds in 81 rooms over four storeys. Internal fittings have been pencilled in for February, while the entire complex may be open in time for the New Zealand winter in June or July.
Local hostel managers have expressed concern over whether there is enough demand for additional beds, considering the town already has 22 hostels in the centre and peak demand only lasts around eight weeks. Nevertheless, the development will only provide extra choice for backpackers, all of whom should have bought
worldwide travel insurance and checked that they are covered for the variety of activities on offer in Queenstown.
The new hostel will offer a communal lounge and a kitchen, in addition to internet access and laundry facilities.
