Backpackers planning to pursue adventure in New Zealand's Abel Tasman National Park should buy
cheap travel insurance to protect against any mishaps.
NZPA reports that Abel Tasman, the smallest national park in the country, is proving so popular that authorities are placing limits on the number of tours that can travel through as part of a new, ten-year management plan. Walking tours will be limited to a total of 50 people each day, while waterborne tourism will be capped at 66 trips each day. All tourists are advised to buy
backpacker travel insurance to protect against any accidents along the way.
Judy Hellstorm, chairwoman of Nelson/Marlborough Conservation Board, told the agency: "[The park] has high visitation that requires careful management in order to protect the natural characteristics for which the park is so highly valued."
Mountain-biking will also be allowed in some areas of the park on a limited scale for a two-year trial period, after which it will be reassessed.
Worldwide travel insurance is a good policy to buy for long-haul journeys.
