A backpacker from Massachusetts, USA, has reached North Carolina having set off from San Francisco on foot in early March this year, it has been reported.
Carrying a series of black bound notebooks, BJ Hill, 32, has been travelling the country from west to east asking people he meets to write a letter to the president on a page in the books.
He has so far discovered that even his own political views are beginning to become skewed.
"One thing I notice coming from Massachusetts, which is in the liberal mold, is that I've moved more to the centre politically, just seeing how most people live in the rest of the country," he told Yes Weekly.
"Now that I'm in the Bible belt, there's [sic] a lot more messages about keeping God in government. In the western part of the country, it's conservative but it's more pro-gun."
