Budgeting and research will help
gap year travel insurance customers get the most out of their time away, says a travel expert.
According to student leisure specialist STA Travel, gappers should be realistic about what they can afford, but also try and get the most for their money.
Ian Swain, the firm's product director, noted: "The more you've got, the more you'll be able to make the most of the amazing experiences and opportunities that arise."
In order to save as much as possible, he suggested putting money aside in a separate bank account to avoid the temptation to spend it.
Those working to gather enough cash for their gap year may also be entitled to a little more money than they thought.
Chartered accountancy firm Grant Thornton has advised students to keep an eye on their earnings as they may be eligible for a tax rebate.
