People looking to visit US national parks adopting more eco-friendly practices have the option of first getting hold of
cheap travel insurance.
The Associated Press reports that national parks across the US are doing their best to reduce their carbon emissions in a bid to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape and help tackle the pressing issue of climate change.
Nearly 20 separate parks currently have special programmes set up, with measures ranging from the use of recycling facilities and bicycles through to window sealing and using more efficient vehicles.
Sonya Capek, the Pacific West region's environmental programme coordinator, told the news agency: "We know we have to green our own house. It's part of our mission to protect and preserve the resources."
Nearly 50 solar panels were recently installed on the emergency operations centre at Mount Rainier in Washington State as the park has the same carbon footprint as more than 1,000 domestic homes.
People visiting the region could buy
backpacker travel insurance.
Examiner.com reports that backpackers heading to California's Yosemite National Park should pack the right food for the trip.
