Travellers with
online travel insurance could benefit from new initiatives aimed at stimulating the tourist trade in Thailand.
AirAsia and Thai Airways will be selling free and greatly reduced tickets in October this year for inbound passengers from America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the Associated Press reports.
Meanwhile, backpackers holding
worldwide travel insurance could get good deals on accommodation in the country.
Some hotels are offering a free second night, while mountain retreats are giving customers free access to golf and spa facilities.
Low cost accommodation options have resisted Thailand's recent drop in visitor numbers, however, with one Bangkok hostel owner telling the news source: "We are still fully booked every day and are offering no special deals."
In other news, the Association of British Insurers has stated that travellers should have access to "clear transparent advice" about
cheap travel insurance.
Taking out travel insurance before heading abroad should be considered essential, the body also claimed.
