Britons looking to take in more culture from their overseas trip could also consider getting hold of
online travel insurance before leaving home.
Figures from TripAdvisor show that backpackers and holidaymakers from Britain spend around two hours and 15 minutes each day taking in cultural sights when they're overseas, while more time tends to be spent sunbathing and having a drink.
In contrast, the Spanish spend, on average, an hour extra every day visiting cultural sights and learning more about the place they're visiting.
Luke Fredberg, spokesperson from TripAdvisor, said: "Getting to know what locally is more culturally interesting would be one way of shifting the focus from drinking to looking at cultural pursuits like visiting museums, taking in the local buildings and architecture."
He added that, at the same time, trips abroad are supposed to be a time to relax and so people could try to get a balance.
Worldwide travel insurance is available for all backpackers and holidaymakers.
Research from TripAdvisor also revealed that on average Britons devote less than an hour a day for time as a couple.
