People heading to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic may choose to get hold of
worldwide travel insurance before leaving home.
Variety reports that the festival attracts large numbers of backpackers as a result of its laidback atmosphere and although, unlike Cannes, there is no official market where filmmakers can find buyers for their projects, deals are still to be done.
Student backpackers have the option of camping when the weather is fine or staying at a local sports stadium at other times.
Krystof Mucha, the festival's executive director, told the magazine: "The state, the town of Karlovy Vary, the Karlovy Vary region and last but not least our traditional festival sponsors, are aware of the festival's contribution and they are all fundamentally still behind it despite the fact that things are now, of course, more difficult."
Backpackers heading to the region have the option of first buying one-way travel insurance.
The Karlovy Vary Film Festival takes place a few weeks after the Cannes Film Festival, which is a much more glamorous event and this year was dominated by Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
