Online travel insurance advised to follow royal visit to Goa beach hut

Cheap travel insurance is recommended for backpackers looking to follow in the footsteps of Princess Eugenie and head to Goa.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the teenage princess - sixth in line to the throne - journeyed to Goa with a friend as part of a gap year of overseas adventure and stayed in a backpacker's beach hut for a £13 nightly fee. The cost of her security entourage was reportedly significantly larger, but locals claimed to have no idea that there was a member of the English royal family in their midst.

Sanjay Naik, a local bartender, told the paper: "We did not think for a minute that she was a British princess. She would lie outside on the sun-lounger for most of the day sunbathing."

The princess was said to divide her time between sunbathing, enjoying a drink at the bar and politely fending off the attention of boys from neighbouring beach huts.

Backpacker travel insurance is recommended for anyone travelling to Goa, while gap year travel insurance could be suitable for younger travellers.
