People heading to sub-tropical Cairns in north-east Australia should seek
cheap travel insurance as they prepare for their trip.
According to cairns.com.au, the Cairns Post reports that the region is experiencing a heat wave at the moment with the temperature currently peaking at 34C with humidity touching 90 per cent on some days. This may be just what some travellers are looking for, although backpackers should make sure they drink plenty of water when they journey to the area, in addition to ensuring they have
worldwide travel insurance.
Clara Wietersheim, a backpacker from Germany, told the paper: "We have gone to the supermarket every hour to cool down. We were told it was going to be 32 degrees but it's so wet in the air. At home, it is snowing."
A local weather forecaster commented that the conditions had become pretty normal in the lead up to the monsoon season.
Local schools have had fridges installed in their classrooms to keep drinks cold, while air conditioner units have been on full blast in a bid to offset the sweltering heat.
