An increasing number of British people are using the internet to research holiday information, get currency rates and secure
worldwide travel insurance before going away, new research suggests.
According to a report compiled by FairFX.com, more holidaymakers are using online resources to search for a variety of information and also make travel arrangements.
Stephen Heath, chief executive of the website, said: "In boom times people didn't worry so much about travel money and left it till the last minute."
However, Mr Heath explained that in this "recessionary environment" people are looking for low cost air fare or
gap year travel insurance via the internet due to the value inherent in using price comparison sites.
"It seems that more and more people are using the internet to deal with their travel money needs in advance, before they go away," he added.
A report by Greenbee.com previously revealed that 34 per cent of British people devote an entire day to searching out the best holiday deal.
