An attempted mugging on friends of Princess Eugenie in Cambodia is a reminder that
online travel insurance is always an option for backpackers.
The 19-year-old princess has been enjoying a gap year with a couple of friends, but the Sun reports that her security officers were forced to step in when a man attempted to steal a purse from them.
Bodyguards got the purse back but reportedly had rocks thrown at them as they moved the girls to safety.
An unnamed Buckingham Palace source told the paper: "They (security officers) feared the incident was escalating out of control and took the decision to focus on the safety of their principal."
The incident is the first of its kind involving a member of the Royal Family for many years, but could encourage more backpackers to seek
gap year travel insurance before they head overseas.
Princess Eugenie and her friends seem set to continue on their travels, although controversy surrounds the £100,000 security cost of keeping her safe.
In other travel news, the Courier-Mail reports that Queensland in Australia is making new plans to deal with under-performing cab drivers.
