While most travellers attempt to keep to a strict budget when heading off on their gap year, those landing in Dubai in the next few weeks may find themselves giving into temptation.
At present, the emirate is becoming an increasingly popular stop-over point for people of all ages and budgets travelling around the world and visitor numbers are expected to spike significantly for the Dubai Shopping Festival.
Due to start in January and carry on into the next month, the event will not only feature a retail extravaganza, but will also boast an array of activities, such as visiting artists, nightly fireworks and film screenings.
"We have a lot of things," the festival's operations and logistics manager Abdulla Hassan Amiri explained.
"We have culture, we have modern and classical culture. There are a lot of opportunities, good discounts and cheaper prices with our zero VAT. It's a most popular city as well."
With such designer bargains to be had, many travellers may look to save as much as possible on their travel insurance so as to boost their budgets for the shopping festival.
