Students heading to national parks overseas are advised to buy themselves
gap year travel insurance in preparation for their trip, reports the Rome News-Tribune.
National parks around the world are popular destinations for backpackers, especially in regions where the landscape is particularly stunning. In some place they start young, and for 12 year-old Chandler Johnson, a native of Rome, Georgia in the United States, national parks are a passion. Aided by her parents she has so far been to 270 national parks in America, her parents having driven her 100,000 miles through 48 states. What's more, she has every intention of adding the remaining 121 to her tally.
Chandler told the Rome News-Tribune: "I enjoy going to the parks because I learn about the historical, cultural and environmental relevance they each have."
The youngster's favourite park is the world-famous Yellowstone, and she has plans to work for the National Park Service when she grows up.
