Backpackers planning to take part in a walking tour of Beirut in Lebanon could first choose to buy
gap year travel insurance.
The Daily Star Lebanon reports that Walk Beirut is a new business designed to expand on tourist guidebooks that have previously been the only expert information on offer to travellers in the region.
Walks offered by the firm last around five hours and take in regions of the city such as Tabaris, Hamra and Downtown, with guides offering talks on areas of interest they pass along the way, before the journey winds up on the Corniche.
Ronnie Chatah, a founding member of Walk Beirut, told the paper: "As far as I know, this is the only walking tour in Beirut. There are companies that take tourists to the mountains or to historical sites, but Beirut has been left out so far."
All visitors have the option of buying
cheap travel insurance before setting off on a trip.
In related walking news, Freshare.net has advised hikers that high-energy snacks and first-aid kits are among the important items that should be taken on a trek along Missouri's Ozark Trail.
