One-way travel insurance is an option for people seeking to save money by planning a reduced-rate trip to Thailand.
New figures from Cheapflights.co.uk reveal that long-haul flights are growing in popularity owing to hotel and other accommodation rates, which are much more attractive than their European counterparts.
Sian Williams, country manager UK for trivago UK, said that the initial cost of the airfare is the primary expense, but then in-country costs are much more forgiving than they are closer to home.
Ms Williams said: "Thailand is a big destination for Brits at the moment because they go there [and] the hotels are very cheap, so all they have to do is pay for the airfare and they are there and everything is very cheap."
She added that Thailand is currently a popular destination - including for people with
gap year travel insurance - for exactly these reasons.
