Parents are increasingly choosing to take gap years with their children, it has been claimed, meaning in future the whole family could benefit from
online travel insurance.
Gap year firm Gap Year for Grown Ups has suggested that more and more parents are choosing to join their children on a gap year, as many parents never got the chance to do so when they were young.
Lauren Mackay, brand manager at Gap Year for Grown Ups, said parents will often start a trip with their children, before the two generations split and do their own things so that both have the opportunity to properly relax.
"People are pushing the boundaries a little bit more, [for] a lot of them either their sons or daughters have gone off to faraway places," Ms Mackay said.
Since 2005, Gap Year for Grown Ups has seen a 300 per cent growth in bookings and 61 per cent of all its bookings are made by people between the ages of 30 and 50.
Parents as well as children could benefit from buying
worldwide travel insurance before heading off on a gap year.
According to One Life Live, 54 per cent of the population dream about taking a break to travel or volunteer overseas.
