Brits abroad urged to 'stay safe' could benefit from cheap travel insurance

The Foreign Office (FO) is reminding holidaymakers heading to the Mediterranean to drink sensibly in a new publicity campaign.

The FO's Chris Bryant visited Greek tour operators to help promote the Another Side to Paradise initiative which will see leaflets and posters displayed in bars and clubs.

Beer mats and frisbees will also carry messages warning of the dangers of excessive drinking.

Mr Bryant told the Observer: "Young people back in Britain need to know the dangers that sometimes they expose themselves to if they don't take sensible precautions."

"One of the prime things that a government is meant to do is protect its citizens, and part of protecting its citizens is helping them know the risks when they go abroad."

Earlier this month, travel company Expedia released a survey which described British tourists as the worst behaved in Europe.

Those surveyed also voted British holidaymakers to be the messiest and most likely to complain.

Going, going, gone. Downunder for cheap travel insurance.
