Over half (54 per cent) aim to do some kind of activity while taking a well-earned break.
Trekking tops the activity list with 26 per cent of poll participants intending to incorporate long walks into their holiday plans.
Scuba diving is also popular with 12 per cent of Brits intending to de-stress by going under the waves.
Traditional sports like sailing (five per cent) and windsurfing (one per cent) are seeing their appeal eroded by the fashion for new extreme sports.
Five per cent of Brits have their hearts set on snowboarding or sandboarding, three per cent want to experience white water rafting and two per cent wish to have a go at bungee jumping.
This new breed of adrenaline junkies would be well advised to invest in some comprehensive
worldwide travel insurance so that they can fully enjoy their heart-in-their-mouth holiday activities.
