Australian authorities have launched a new programme designed to promote the country's ecological tourist destinations.
A region of rainforest known as the Green Cauldron has been added to the campaign, which already includes locations such as the Great Ocean Road, the Greater Blue Mountains, Flinders Ranges and the Red Centre. The campaign marks a renewed government drive to promote Australia's natural habitats and scenery in a bid to increase environmental tourism to the country.
Peter Garrett, federal minister for the environment, told the Northern Rivers Echo: "Nature-based tourism can continue to grow and contribute to the economy, which is critical to education and conservation and ways of building sustainable tourism for the long-term."
The National Landscape Programme is part of a wider drive to attract more visitors to Australia, a country which is already popular amongst backpackers who are attracted by the stunning wilderness and vibrant culture.
