People with
backpacker travel insurance will have a better chance of being able to fly to Queensland thanks to a rise in airline seat capacity.
Peter Lawlor, the Australian tourism minister, said that the number of spaces available on flights to and from the region's hubs have increased.
Latest figures show a two per cent capacity rise for November 2009 to March 2010 when compared with the same period of last year.
Mr Lawlor revealed that Jetstar's new Airbus A321 route has played a part on this rise.
He commented: "An increase in international seat capacity to Queensland airports over the next six months is a positive development for Queensland's tourism industry and is a positive sign of a return to confidence in global travel."
The minster also said that it is important that airlines are supported during the economic downturn, especially those that are committed to delivering flights to Queensland.
