Worldwide travel insurance customers may be among those planning a trip to Australia and unsure where has been affected by this week's bush fires.
Firefighters are today tackling dozens of blazes, as record-breaking hot weather prompted officials to issue "catastrophic" warnings in two states.
Lightening storms set off fires in South Australia, while New South Wales coped with more than 80 outbreaks, some of which came close to Sydney.
Shane Fitzsimmons, Rural Fire Service commissioner, said the biggest challenge now and into the weekend would be the mass of hot air still remaining across the two states.
A new category introduced after February's Black Saturday fires, the Code Red or "catastrophic" warnings are the last given before residents are advised to evacuate their homes.
"Homes are not designed and planned to withstand conditions typically with this sort of rating," added the firefighter.
An unnamed woman living in the Inverell area of New South Wales told ABC she was frustrated about the lack of communication with residents and hoped she would have enough notice to protect her property and livestock.
