Australia seeking skilled workers

The Australian Visa Bureau reports that the Australian government is seeking skilled workers in various sectors including advertising, marketing and printing, in news that may appeal to those seeking a new experience.

According to new figures from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the number of vacancies has generally seen a big fall, with over 17 per cent fewer opportunities than last year. But while many sectors no longer have an abundance of jobs, there are still shortages in advertising, marketing and printing.

A rise in immigration to Australia is one of the reasons why some sectors have fewer vacancies, with figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealing that 1,000 people enter the country every day.

Australia is a hugely popular destination for all kinds of travellers, be they gap-year students looking to experience places far away from home before heading off to university, or tourists looking for a straightforward break.

People looking to stay for longer in the country and work are advised to check the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) to see whether they have appropriate skills, while online travel insurance is recommended to provide cover against mishaps along the way.
