Young people heading to Australia are under renewed pressure to take out
backpacker travel insurance following the death of a British man in a car crash.
The 19-year-old from Wrexham, died at the scene of the accident near Brisbane last week (April 24th).
Two friends, one believed to be aged 19 and the other 26 years old, were also injured and are still undergoing treatment in hospital.
It is thought the accident happened when the car left the road at Wamuran and plowed into a clump of trees.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office confirmed that three British nationals had been involved in a car accident near Brisbane on Friday, adding: "One of the people involved died and two were injured."
Meanwhile, backpackers planning to visit nearby Fraser Island could also benefit from buying
cheap travel insurance before they head off.
The Courier Mail reported last week that many motorists have had minor problems negotiating the island's sandy terrain only days after an accident on the beach killed two backpackers.
