Gap year travel insurance holders Down Under could be tempted to visit the National Museum of Australia as important Aboriginal artefacts are returned to the country from Britain.
Among the items being repatriated are a set of ancient Aboriginal remains found during a clearout of a house in Cheshire.
The bones belonged to university professor and former Aboriginal Rights Association president John Kempster.
However, an agreement with Australia to return indigenous remains will see the auction house currently holding them hand them over to two Ngarrindjeri elders who have flown over from South Australia.
Their next stop is the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, which will try to determine which indigenous community they hail from.
Backpackers interested in finding out more about Aboriginal history could visit the museum's First Australians exhibition, which provides an overview of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's culture.
