Backpackers planning to follow increasing numbers of New Zealanders to Australia should buy
online travel insurance before they go.
Australian Visa Bureau reports news from the Age that international tourism to Australia is beginning to decrease as more holidaymakers opt to save money and travel somewhere closer to home. On the other hand, the number of travellers heading to Australia from New Zealand has shown a year-on-year increase of over 9,000, which tourism experts have put down to more flights between the two countries at cheaper prices.
New Zealanders are clearly keen to take advantage of the proximity of such a diverse country. Australia offers vibrant metropolitan cityscapes, spectacular desert vistas and sharply contrasting climates that include the sub-tropical north-east.
Travellers are advised to buy
backpacker travel insurance as they prepare for a trip, whether they plan to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef or take a bush trek in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney.
Younger travellers may choose to buy
gap year travel insurance while they are away from home.
