The region is to be promoted as Australia's premier surfing destination in a new campaign launched today (October 1st).
Joined by prominent surfers Layne Beachley and Sally Fitzgibbons at Manly Beach, tourism minister Jodi McKay highlighted the area's spectacular waves and scenery.
"Surfing and beach culture is a vital part of our national identity and it's a great way for visitors to connect with local people and our lifestyle," she said.
Ms McKay added: "We want to highlight the beauty of the NSW coastline and the large number of dedicated surf schools and beaches available to holidaymakers up and down the state."
The initiative will include a dedicated surfing website in addition to new adverts and promotions.
