Online travel insurance customers hankering after a new adventure may be pleased to hear Australian tourism operators are welcoming students with open arms.
Gap year travel firm STA Travel and airline V Australia have teamed up to offer a new range of deals for backpackers aged 18 to 30.
The firms promise those travelling under a 12-month work and holiday visa can "live like a local", with such jobs as bartender, ranch hand or surf instructor available.
Deals include campervan road trips in New South Wales, Queensland or Victoria, cage croc diving in the Northern Territory or touring across Western Australia.
For a more sedate trip, wine tasting and vineyard day trips are also on offer in Tasmania and South Australia.
James Bell, commercial vice-president for STA Travel, said: "Taking up to a year to work and play in Australia becomes a real possibility for many people when they realise resources are there to help them be successful."
