Backpackers looking for work at a hostel in Perth, Australia, have the option of buying
online travel insurance in preparation for their trip.
Perth Now reports that businesspeople Alex Foster and Bruce and Maria Luck inherited the Bengal Indian Restaurant in Phillimore Street, Fremantle in Perth and the property came with the restaurant below and a backpacker hostel above.
Since then, the owners have had no problem befriending backpackers who book a stay at the hostel and giving them shifts in the restaurant to help earn some money.
Mr Foster told the website: "A lot of people know about this hostel and the restaurant set-up before they arrive. So we stay reasonably busy throughout the year. Most work here for two or three months, so we do have a high turnover."
The hostel has nearly 100 beds and the backpackers who work in the restaurant benefit from convenience, free food and the knowledge that they're working alongside fellow backpackers, many of whom may have
cheap travel insurance.
Fruit-picking is particularly popular among backpackers travelling through rural regions of Australia and New Zealand.
