Backpackers with
worldwide travel insurance could join a chorus and sing on a boat ride from Melbourne to Tasmania.
The Spirit of Tasmania will showcase the vocal talents of the Young Voices of Melbourne choir, which was founded in 1990 by Mark O'Leary, giving gap year travellers a unique experience.
Mr O'Leary, who is also the conductor, said: "The choir is really looking forward to performing in Tasmania this year. Singing on Spirit of Tasmania will be a highlight of the tour for the kids."
The choir's performance is part of the Festival of Voices tour which since 2005 has been offering under-18s the chance to take part in a four-day celebration of singing.
Young Voices of Melbourne has now recorded and released eight CDs.
Charles Griplas, chief executive officer of the Spirit of Tasmania, said: "We are delighted to have such fine young talent on board to entertain our travellers."
The Lonely Planet advises those with
worldwide travel insurance that Tasmania is great for hiking, wind surfing and mountain climbing.
