Record numbers of England fans are reported to be already planning a visit to Australia for the next Ashes series in 2010 following this year's victory.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, New South Wales' tourism minister Jodi McKay has said many of England's dedicated Barmy Army supporters have already registered for tickets to see the two teams in Sydney's New Year test match.
Ms McKay told the paper: "It's not just the cricket the Barmy Army will get to enjoy.
"The fact is there is simply no better place in the world to welcome in the New Year than Sydney."
The Herald claims the 2006-07 Ashes series gave Aussie tourism a $265 million (£136 million) boost.
Earlier this month saw news suggesting cricket fans planning long-haul travel could be hit hard by increased air taxes.
A new poll conducted in Australia found 50 per cent of people will reconsider travelling if the rises are implemented, reports the Sunday Express.
