Cheap travel insurance advised for backpackers taking advantage of weak dollar

Cheap travel insurance is advised for backpackers who may be looking to head to Australia to take advantage of the weak dollar.

The Australian dollar has fallen by two per cent in the space of a single day, meaning that tourists from overseas will get more for their money. While many may be attracted by the good prices on offer as a result of both the weak dollar and favourable cheap travel insurance offers, Australian authorities are also concerned that a few months down the line the impact of the global financial turmoil will see visitor numbers drop. However, global backpacking trends do not seem to have been massively affected by the global economy.

Australian tour operators can remain optimistic for the time being, however, as British and American tourists will be the first to benefit from the sinking dollar, and they are two of Australia's biggest visitors.

Backpackers may be keen to take advantage of the ailing currency before economic conditions begin to improve again.

Backpacker travel insurance is recommended for trips to the other side of the world.
