The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has cautioned that more storms are expected in Queensland, proving the importance of
online travel insurance.
Parts of south-east Queensland were battered by inclement weather on Sunday (November 16th), with areas of Brisbane, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich, Southern Downs and Somerset tipped to be next on the storm's calling card, ABC Online reports.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, residents and tourists can expect high winds and large hailstones in the not-too-distant future.
As such, travellers on their way to Queensland would do well to ensure they have adequate backpacker insurance.
However, while the severe weather has caused its problems it has also had a galvanising effect on the local population.
"The community spirit is absolutely amazing," Brisbane's lord mayor Campbell Newman told ABC News.
Brisbane, which lies on the south-east coast of Queensland, is the state's capital and most popular city.
Popular attractions include South Bank Parklands, Roma Street Parkland, the City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane Forest Park and Portside Wharf.
