Backpackers hoping to enjoy white-water rafting in Cairns, Australia, should make sure they buy
worldwide travel insurance first.
Cairns.com.au reports news from the Cairns Post that as the wet season approaches the tropical north-east tip of Australia, the resulting heavy rainfall is causing local rivers around the popular backpacker destination of Cairns to swell. The result has been a surge in the popularity of white-water rafting as visitors look to take advantage of the weather conditions with some adrenaline-fuelled fun on the water.
Peter Woodward, managing director of RnR White Water Rafting, told the website: "Bookings have just picked up now. Throughout the next wet season we can definitely look forward to some good rapids."
White-water rafting is particularly popular among backpackers, all of whom are advised to buy
backpacker travel insurance as rafting can be a rough, if incredibly enjoyable experience.
Cairns is considered to be one of the best places in Australia for rafting, and the swelling rivers only add to the excitement.
