A student from Dumbarton may want to get some
backpacker travel insurance as she prepares for the trip of a lifetime, heading to Australia for just £10.
The Lennox Herald reports that Kirsty Brannagan, who has recently finished studying architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, is one of the lucky few to have won a ticket to Australia for just £10 as part of STA Travel's '£10 Pom' promotion.
Ms Brannagan may now be looking at obtaining
cheap travel insurance to cover her for the journey, which she secured after camping out on the street to make sure she was one of the first to get her hands on the cheap ticket.
"I've always wanted to go to Australia for a gap year but I've never had the money to travel, so being able to go for a tenner is amazing," she told the newspaper.
Glasgow's STA Travel store opened at 8:00 last Wednesday (August 12th) and was flooded with people seeking to get their hands on the limited tickets, but Ms Brannagan had queued overnight to ensure she was one of the first.
The idea of the promotion comes from the 'ten bob Pom' promotion, which was started by the Australian government 40 years ago to encourage more Britons to move to Australia and permanently set up residence in the country.
