Tourism Australia is helping
worldwide travel insurance customers plan their year abroad with a new downloadable application.
Available through social networking site Facebook, the gap year device asks fans of the page a series of questions about their ideal destinations, before creating a photo album representing their travel wish list.
Devised to generate publicity for the country's working holiday visa programme, the tourism body says it hopes to promote discussion among young travellers.
Launching the app, Rodney Harrex, the organisation's general manager, said: "Those that have already travelled on the programme are sharing their stories on our page encouraging others to go, which is very powerful.
"This tool is a neat way to spread the message about the benefits of a gap year abroad."
Anyone interested in heading downunder for their gap year can also post questions and concerns, which are then answered by Tourism Australia or fellow gappers.
