A Koala sanctuary on an idyllic tropical island has scooped the best backpacker accommodation category in the Queensland tourism awards for the third year running.
Bungalow Bay Koala Village, which is situated on Magnetic Island, just a short ferry ride from mainland Australia, has been praised for its simple yet comfortable facilities as well as its friendly staff.
In addition to these features, the budget resort continues to draw in backpackers due to its proximity to a wide variety of native Australian wildlife and also its year-round good climate.
Recognising the sterling efforts of the Koala Village management team, Queensland's tourism minister Desley Boyle stated: "This is a very deserving honour for Brett and Janelle Flemming, whose commitment to preserving the local environment while providing a very special visitor experience also saw them named as Australia's best backpacker resort in February."
Magnetic Island currently continues to draw in the travellers, even in spite of the fact that several of its beaches recently boasted signs warning of a giant crocodile on the loose, highlighting the importance of
