As if UK backpackers didn't have enough incentive to head to the likes of Australia and South Africa, those who do the maths will work out that the pound will go a long way there compared to the US and Europe.
Both the dollar and the euro are strong against the pound at the moment and Travelex global marketing director Julian Neal explained that currency strength could influence many a backpacker's travel plans.
"Whilst the current currency fluctuations around the globe mean we can't predict where people will be travelling to next year, Australia and South Africa are both long-haul destinations where the pound has been performing well over the past couple of months," he said.
"When the pound peaked against the Australian dollar last month we saw a 12 per cent increase in orders of the currency at Travelex.co.uk."
The pound's strength against the Australian dollar means that backpackers can get a lot more bang for their buck - possibly being able to afford an extra diving trip on the Great Barrier Reef or a wilderness trek in the Northern Territory.
The extra cash could also be used to offset the cost of decent travel insurance to insure that travellers are protected should the worst happen.
