Online travel insurance customers may be among those planning to head to Queensland to rest and recuperate after the Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations.
The state's tourism minister Peter Lawlor said local holiday operators will try to tempt partied-out revellers to the Sunshine State's magnificent beaches and islands.
He confirmed the Queensland Mardi Gras Recovery Week would be held from March 1st to 7th 2010.
Tourism Queensland has joined forces with Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia to offer a range of discounted deals for tired partygoers.
"Our aim is to attract the 5,000 international visitors who travel to Sydney to attend the annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras each year and entice them to extend their stay and travel north to relax and recover," explained Mr Lawlor.
The week's activities will include a wilderness day trip to Fraser Island, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, a beachside dinner in Noosa and a cruise along the Brisbane River.
The world's biggest gay and lesbian arts festival, the 2010 Mardi Gras has a new format and will span over two weeks and three weekends.
