Online travel insurance is one option for travellers planning to enjoy nature-based tourism opportunities in Australia, reports hospitality.com.
The government in Victoria is looking to promote nature-based tourism in the region to cater better for a surge in demand from international holidaymakers and backpackers alike. The majority (close to 70 per cent) of people surveyed recently by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) agreed that nature-based tourism in the region would have at least a 'moderate' impact on the industry over the course of the next three to five years.
Mr Johnson, chairman of the VTIC, told hospitality.com: "Victoria has the greatest level of biodiversity, relative to land size, in Australia. Most natural attractions are easily accessed, being clustered within driving distance of Melbourne."
The chairman called for an increase in roofed travel accommodation and additional infrastructure in the region to facilitate multi-day walks and enable Victoria to compete with New Zealand and Tasmania.
