The global economic turmoil is not preventing people from securing
cheap travel insurance and making their way Down Under, it has been revealed.
Indeed, Ian Wakeling, the managing editor of TNT Magazine, believes the current conditions are actually more conducive to a trip to Australia.
"Despite the global economic uncertainty, young travellers are still flocking Down Under in large numbers and spending big," he said, etravelblackboard.com reports.
"If anything, the relative weakness of the dollar makes the trip even more enticing."
Mr Wakeling was commenting following the publication of a survey by TNT Magazine, Global Gossip and Business Reporting Bureau which stresses the importance of backpackers to the Australian economy.
According to etravelblackboard.com, the research suggests $8,869 is spent by the average Australian backpacker compared to the $3,000 outlay of more conventional tourists.
Many also choose to get a job in order to raise further funds for subsequent parts of their journeys.
However, both backpackers and tourists alike need to secure
cheap travel insurance to protect themselves financially from unexpected complications such as the one which saw a German kayaker end up in hospital following an accident in New Zealand recently.
Going, going, gone. Downunder for
cheap travel insurance.
