Travellers planning on studying in Australia for any length of time should make sure they have
cheap travel insurance before setting off.
According to Australian Visa Bureaus, authorities in New South Wales (NSW) are planning to encourage American students to study in Australia by advertising through social networking site MySpace. Travellers and backpackers from across the world are now staying longer in the country and are saving up more money so that they can do more and enjoy a higher standard of living. According to Tourism NSW nearly 40 per cent of inbound visitors to the region are young people, and authorities are keen for them to stay and study.
Jodi McKay, minister for tourism, told the bureau: "This new tourism strategy integrates social networking, web technology and destination marketing to allow us to tap into one of the fastest growing sources of tourism business worldwide."
The online profile is entitled MySydney and is designed to encourage young Americans to seek more information from young people in Australia contributing to the website.
The campaign will run through to December.
