Backpackers and other travellers visiting the increasingly popular city of Wollongong could benefit from
backpacker travel insurance.
Wollongong's rising popularity has recently been highlighted by figures showing a 43 per cent increase in international visits, reports the Illawarra Mercury.
The city - located just south of Sydney - offers a range of attractions, which include the Illawarra Museum and the Science Centre and Planetarium.
Visitor data, provided by Tourism New South Wales, also shows that the number of international tourists who stayed overnight during the previous five years jumped from 32,000 to 52,000, the paper reports.
The figures go on to reveal the destination saw growth from a number of other visitor groups, which include an 11 per cent rise in domestic overnight visits and a 23 per cent jump in domestic day visits.
As such, Wollengong seems to be popular not just with those with
worldwide travel insurance, but also with Australian tourists.
Those visiting the region could also take advantage of a number of other tourist attractions. Sydney is one city not to be missed and travellers can also check out the Snowy Mountains and Lord Howe Island.
