A backpacker caravan company in Australia has been ordered to remove its "sexist" and potentially racist advertising from the sides of its vans.
Wicked Campers, which runs minibuses and campervans for backpacking trips, has been ordered by the Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB) to remove advertising slogans such as "If God was a woman, sperm would taste like chocolate".
The calls highlight the stereotypical laissez-faire attitude of backpackers, which can sometimes lead people into trouble - for instance, figures released recently for instance show that one in eight Brits never buy travel insurance.
ASB chief executive officer Alison Abernethy said that Wicked Campers had taken note of the ruling: "The advertiser has listened to community concerns and will remove the slogans which are causing offence," she told the press.
Backpackers should always look for signs to determine whether or not an activity is safe before they attempt anything out of the ordinary such as extreme sports.
Often, bungee jumping, white water rafting and sky-diving are activities taken up with little or no time to plan, and so a comprehensive insurance cover will be essential.
